Our Story

In March 2017, the Leading on Opportunity Report was published, which presents a series of strategies through which the community can address key determinants for economic development.

In November 2017, Camino Community Center, Atrium Health, Novant Health, and Enlace came together to organize the “Latino Faith Leaders Conference: The Role of Faith Leaders in Building a Healthy Community.”

As a result of a conference hosted by Camino Community Center, Atrium Health, Novant Health, and Enlace, a group of pastors and religious leaders from over 20 Latin congregations, along with community leaders from the mentioned organizations, started meeting in 2018. They continued working together to create the Faith and Health Latin Coalition (FÉ Y SALUD Coalición Latina).

Mission

To represent and influence decision-making processes in order to improve the quality of the Latin community in Mecklenburg County and its surrounding areas.

Objectives

  • Build trustworthy relationships with the city, county, and other community stakeholders involved in decision-making.
  • Create trust within the broader community.
  • Strengthen the leadership of faith communities in order to influence and generate changes in our community.
